![]() It starts out with three friends trapped in a snowstorm, two of which are teenage boys lured out into the blizzard by the promise of a restaurant full of stranded cheerleaders. I haven’t heard of anyone else who thinks this, and it’s just my own opinion, but I felt that a lot of the humor and jokes made by the teenage boy characters in this story (which are all but one character) were in poor taste and quite sexist. While his writing style is definitely unique, I actually found this story to be rather offensive. I’ve only read TFIOS by John Green so I was on the fence with his writing to begin with. (“Cheertastic”…the made-up word just grates on me). Right off the bat I will admit I was irritated by the title of this story. Story #2- A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle by John Green Had this been a book by itself it would’ve easily merited a four star rating. ![]() I wanted a whole book with Jubilee narrating. Her romance was my favorite of the bunch, set between two strangers, it’s more of the very beginnings of a budding romance but it was believable and quirky, with Stuart’s holiday obsessed mom adding just the right touch of adult presence in a YA story. It poked fun at the insane, consumer-based side of the holidays (The Flobie Five) and Jubilee was a delightful character to provide first person narration- did I mention how funny she is? (And in a sort of dry, unintentional way, which is the best). Johnson’s tale had so many creative moments that set it apart from a typical holiday romance. That sentence alone is what convinced me to purchase the book. You probably think I have heard the call of the pole.” “I realize Jubilee is a bit of a stripper name. Her narrative voice was just so funny and distinct and on more than one occasion I literally burst into laughter (much to the alarm of my four cats), notably so on just the first page of her story: I cannot believe I hadn’t read anything by Maureen Johnson prior to this. Story #1- The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson I can assuredly say that my experience with this collection and all three stories in it was consistent with most of the reviews I’d read- it starts off strong and then ends on a less-than-impressive note. I read a lot of reviews about this book prior to reading, as it was my first YA anthology purchase and YA holiday read and I was curious to see what others thought of it. Over the next three days one girl takes a risky shortcut with an adorable stranger, three friends set out to win a race to the Waffle House (and the hash brown spoils), and the fate of a teacup pig falls into the hands of a lovesick barista.Ī trio of today’s bestselling authors – John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle- brings all the magic of the holidays to life in three hilarious and charming interconnected tales of love, romance, and kisses that will steal your breath away. ![]() ![]() Axe is spirited out of the country after pretending to board a helicopter to surrender to authorities in Manhattan. Mike Prince buys Axe’s fortune for pennies on the dollar. The upshot of all the plot twists at the end of the hour is that Axe is gone like a complete unknown. Taylor vacillates from wanting to take down Axe - and helping Giamatti’s Chuck Rhoades in his quest to bring criminal charges against him - to actually feeling sorry rather than triumphant when Axe is cornered. In Season 5, Mason’s idealism is challenged by another idealistic newcomer, Rian (Eva Victor). The season end with Axe tricked into a deal with marijuana kingpin (played by Janeane Garafalo) who is moving both legal and contrabrand weed, which leaves Axe vulnerable to criminal money laundering charges after jockeying to break into cannabis financial services.Īsia Kate Dillon’s Taylor Mason remains a pivotal “Billions” character as Taylor Mason, the analytical genius who can spot profit-making opportunities from 30,000 feet but wrestles with their conscience and the consequences of such wealth accumulation. The machinations of “Billions” fifth season were characteristically complex, full of double-crosses, shifting alliances, below-the-belt punches and the wordplay that the show has become known for (a highlight of the season was having one character recite lyrics from Van Halen’s “Atomic Punk.”)Īxe is ultimately outmaneuvered in his never-ending jousts in the marketplace by rival billionaire Mike Prince, who tries to present as a kinder, gentler, socially responsible billionaire in contrast to Axe’s unabashedly carnivorous mentality. He responds, “If we can’t finish it, we can’t start it.” “You wouldn’t want the version of me that would go,” she tells him. In the finale, as Axe plans his escape, he invites Wendy to join him on the run in Europe. The reality of the world they created is the world that is stopping them from getting together.” They were too much victims of their circumstances to slip away into the sunset. “They don’t get to have the sort of youthful unvarnished romance after all the things they’ve done and been through. “That never felt like a true ending for those characters,” Levien said. Levien said that they’ve also known from the get-go of the series that Wendy and Axe would grapple with a forbidden love that could never blossom. The decision to draw the curtain on the Axe character after season 5 has been about three years in the making, the showrunners confirmed. And just as soon as they did, the season ended on a gut-punch as it became clear that there would be no happy ending (at least not now) for them. For longtime fans, perhaps the most momentous Season 5 storyline was the gradual move of Axelrod (aka Axe) and Maggie Siff’s Wendy Rhoades toward articulating their long-unstated desire to be together. ![]() Open a Binance Account here and save 10% on fees for a lifetime. ![]() This also applies to IOTA, where now Binance customers can again rely on transferring their funds to a Ledger Nano S or Nano X for highest security standards and store them there offline. After another ten days of waiting, however, everything is now – as far as is known – okay for Binance customers using IOTA. The problem was known, but a date for the solution was not, Binance said. The situation was met with incomprehension and indignation when Binance was still unable to support payouts in IOTA. According to its own information, Binance stores IOTA assets on Ledger hardware wallets and therefore had to put payouts in IOTA on hold as well. Some people report having a total of two or four attacks followed by a prolonged or total remission, having attacks over the course of a few weeks or months before the attacks spontaneously disappear, or the attacks may even recur irregularly every few days, weeks, or months for much of a lifetime. The pattern of the auditory hallucinations is variable. With the heightened arousal, people experience distress, confusion, myoclonic jerks, tachycardia, sweating, and the feeling that they have stopped breathing and need to make a conscious effort to breathe again. Some people may also experience heat, strange feelings in their torso, or a feeling of electrical tinglings that ascends to the head before the auditory hallucinations occur.
